Huntaway Ridge is now called Huntaway Close

What’s in a name?

Council initially approved the name Huntaway Ridge in 2017, but when LINZ (Land Information New Zealand) got the final application for approval of the road name in June this year, they said that “Ridge” does not meet the current road naming criteria. 

So it had to go back to the Nelson City Council Hearings Panel recently for approval of a new street type – the name has now been changed to Huntaway Close because it is a cul-de-sac. 

If you are interested, a close is a short enclosed roadway, usually surrounded by buildings.
