Fire in Sir Stanley Whitehead Reserve now under control

The Fire Emergency New Zealand crews worked hard to tackle the fire on Sir Stanley Whitehead Reserve this afternoon and now deem it to be under control.

Crews will continue to monitor the situation overnight.

Police and Fire Emergency New Zealand will allow access to residents when safe to do so.

All roads have now reopened apart from the cul de sac of Grove Street from Milton Street. 

As the hot, dry weather continues, everyone is reminded to be vigilant and it is essential to stay out of all the closed Reserve areas for your own safety.
