Nelson City Council manages several commercial forests and we want to ensure they are managed in a way that has the most positive outcomes for our region: environmentally, economically and socially.

We are seeking Forest Stewardship Certification for Brook, Maitai, Roding and Marsden Valley Forests.

This will show our forests are managed according to industry best practice.

Council has committed to PF Olsen’s FSC Group scheme, and they have developed a management plan to achieve certification.

We want the public to provide their views on the plan, and so will be looking for feedback during June 2020.
