Council funding is helping to reduce waste at events using a new mobile Wash Against Waste station.

The Wash Against Waste trailer, run by Waste No More Nelson, provides plates, bowls and cutlery which is supplied to food vendors on the day. Customers return the crockery to the trailer for washing and sterilising, and it then goes back to the food vendors for re-use.

As well as reducing single use packaging and waste going to landfill, the Wash Against Waste trailer helps reduce the volumes of waste going through ourrecycling facilities, thus reducing energy use and labour.
