A new 200mm watermain pipe has been installed on Gloucester Street, replacing the existing pipes that were approaching the end of their useful life.

The project was completed ahead of schedule, and with an 80-year life span, residents and businesses can look forward to continuity of their water supply into the future.

The next stage of this work will occur between 26 Gloucester Street and the St Vincent/Gloucester Street roundabout. This is scheduled to go ahead in the next few years.

Council has committed to a significant investment in Nelson’s infrastructure as it upgrades the water network to cope with increased demand.

The most recent Long Term Plan budgeted $496m over the next ten years for core infrastructure projects.
