Here are a few simple things you can do at home to keep chemicals and other nasties out of our waterways.

Please wash your vehicle on grass or gravel so dirty water soaks into the soil, rather than into the stormwater system. Stormwater flows from the street directly into our streams and harbour. Washing your car where the run-off goes to a storm drain sends heavy metals and detergents directly into our waterways, harming fish and plants.

You might think washing your one car isn’t impacting our water quality, but combined with all the other cars and home DIY projects going on in the region, there can be a lot of unwanted pollutants getting into our streams.
