Applications are now open for the 2021/2022 Heritage Project Fund grant round; applications need to be submitted by 5 pm, Friday 7 May 2021, for grants of $1000 + GST or more towards the cost of approved projects.

The fund is aimed at helping owners of heritage buildings, objects or sites (listed in the Nelson Resource Management Plan) with the cost of work that contributes to conserving Nelson’s heritage properties.

We’ve already been in contact with owners of listed properties to let them know they can apply now. The grants are open to the owners of  A, B, or C heritage buildings, objects or sites; iwi; non-profit heritage groups and heritage conservation/management groups.
The grants can be used to carry out work like stabilisation, repair or restoration of original heritage fabric (i.e. masonry, joinery, earthquake strengthening or fire protection.) It can also be used for professional services relating to heritage research, conservation plans etc.

Work carried out using grants funding must meet Nelson City Council and Heritage New Zealand approved standards.
You can find out more about heritage funding and apply online on the Nelson City Council website.
