Did you know that it is your responsibility as a resident to make sure the vegetation on your property doesn’t grow over the footpath or the road?

As you can appreciate, with footpaths this can hinder safe access for pedestrians, pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. With roadways it can cause visibility issues for drivers and may potentially cause an accident.

You can check out the requirements of how the vegetation needs to be trimmed here on the Council website.

In cases where residents don’t keep their vegetation clear of the footpath or road, Nelmac is authorised to carry out the work and the householder may be invoiced for the cost of this work by Nelson City Council.

Your efforts to keep your frontage clear will help to make your neighbourhood safer for everyone.
