Nelson City Council's community plantings coming up over winter

There are some community plantings coming up over the winter months in Nelson.

We have got 3,000 plants to get in the ground as part of the Tahunanui Beach Dune Restoration Planting on Arbor Day and we need your help.

Tahunanui Dune Restoration Project
When: Sat 5 June 10am-1pm (rain day 6 June)
Where: Next to the BBQ area, Bisley Walk.
Bring: Your own spade/gloves if you have them. Some are available for use on the day.

The first planting site as part of a multi-year project to restore the Poormans Valley Stream environment, from the margin of the Marsden Valley Reserve to the estuary. This year we start at planting site one, just past Quail Rise on Marsden Valley Road. Many hands make light work – bring your spade and lots of enthusiasm.

Poorman Valley Stream Restoration Project
When: Sat 19th June 10am-1pm (rain day 20 June)
Where: Marsden Valley, just past Quail Rise
Parking: In the Plumtree Lane area, where footpaths will lead you to the planting site. No parking on Marsden Valley Rd please.
Bring: A smile, your own spade/gloves if you have them. Some are available for use on the day.

BBQ: Free sausages provided.
A port-a-loo will be also be available on site.

Braemar Village Community Planting Day
When: Saturday 24 July 10am-1pm (rain day 25 July)
Where: Adjacent to Braemar Village, Grampians Reserve. Walk to site from the top of Motueka Street
Bring: A smile, your own spade/gloves if you have them. Some are available for use on the day.

Stage one of a three-year project. This planting site is not suitable for younger children.
