Nelson welcomes 79 new citizens

79 Nelson residents from 23 countries recently became New Zealand citizens at a ceremony at the Trafalgar Centre.

79 Nelson residents from 23 countries recently became New Zealand citizens at a ceremony at the Trafalgar Centre.

The new citizens were welcomed by Nelson Mayor Nick Smith and Nelson City Councillor Mel Courtney, along with Council Kaumātua Luke Katu and representatives from the Police and Multicultural Nelson Tasman.

Friends and family watched as the new citizens read their oaths/affirmations of allegiance before receiving their citizenship certificates.
