The days are numbered for the plastic-fantastic toilet in the Queens Gardens.

If you’ve been down Bridge Street recently you will have seen the construction beginning on the replacement toilets, beside the Suter Art Gallery and Nelson’s Queens Gardens.

Council has heard from public feedback that there needs to be a long-term solution for visitors to the Gardens, since the closure of the public toilets in the basement of The Suter.

The new toilet block will be accessed from the Bridge Street footpath and has been designed to complement the exterior of the adjacent Suter Gallery. It will contain two unisex toilets, one of which is disabled accessible and has a baby change table.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of June 2019, subject to weather or any other unexpected delays.
