The Brook Waimarama Sanctuary is holding an Open Day on Sunday 11 April from 10am-4pm, with free entry and some great activities for people of all ages.

Visitors can enjoy a guided walk along the loop track, live music, food and coffee stalls plus kids activities - make a birdhouse, face painting and a puppet theatre show for little ones from Birdlife Productions. Information stands will be hosted by Nelson City Council, the Department of Conservation, Sanctuary volunteers and Tim’s Garden, with spot prizes on the day.

Plus, for the first time, the open day is featuring two Fun Runs sponsored by RWCA.  Runners and walkers can tackle the 10-kilometre RWCA Sanctuary Fun Run, starting at 10.30am. Register on the day or online here, $20 entry fee - cash only. For younger runners the 2km Redwood Kids Fun Run starts at 12.30pm and is free to enter.
