Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit to the Long Term Plan 2021-31 consultation document (LTP).

We received 648 submissions during the consultation period, which is more than a 40% increase on the previous LTP.

Those submissions included 2279 items of feedback on 21 major topics, with strong interest from the community on the library proposal, housing affordability and intensification, transport, climate change, and the proposed pest plant control plan.

The consultation period closed on 21 April 2021. The next steps in the process are hearings on 4, 5, 6 May, where submitters who indicated that they wish to speak to their submissions are heard. This is followed by the deliberations meeting on 18, 19, 29 May, where elected members will consider public feedback and decide on any changes to what was proposed in the 10-year work programme.

The Long Term Plan 2021–2031 will be adopted at a Council meeting before 1 July 2021.Mayor Rachel Reese was thrilled to see more members of our community take part in local democracy.

“Our plan is always made stronger by the ideas we get from our community. Thanks to all the individuals and organisations who were able to provide us with their feedback.”
