Congratulations to Emma Martin from Nelson College for Girls, who won a local ‘coastal’ prize pack for participating in our Coastal Hazards Youth Survey recently.

Nelson City Council is working to better understand coastal erosion and coastal flooding. We held public events and workshops earlier this year, to help create a strategy for how we respond to these coastal hazards.

As part of this work, we engaged the help of the Nelson Youth Council and carried out an online survey of secondary school students to seek their input on coastal hazards.

Thank you to all students who completed the survey.

For her efforts Emma won an ‘Encore’ recycled beach bag from Nelson company The Green Collective and a paddleboard hire voucher from Moana NZ Stand-up Paddle Board in Tahunanui.
