Work will start next week (7 February) on repainting the Collingwood Street Bridge structural steel and handrails. It will be repainted the same as the current colour.

As part of this work, the bridge will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles between 18 February and 9 March 2019, subject to suitable weather conditions.

The closure and detour routes will be clearly signposted but drivers should bear this in mind when planning their journeys around this area. Pedestrians have the option of using the nearby Riverside Footbridge or the Trafalgar Street Bridge. T

o carry out the painting the locks on the bridge have been cut and removed. Any owners who wish to do so can claim their lock from the Council office from 11 February.

Sorry for any inconvenience this closure will cause but it is essential to ensure the Maitai River is properly protected while we carry out this essential maintenance work.
