The engagement period for the next stage of the Draft Whakamahere Whakatū Nelson Plan (the Draft Nelson Plan) was due to start on Wednesday (18 August 2021).

However, the change to Alert Level 4 meant Council was unable to send out letters to the vast majority of property owners affected by the information, or to hold any of the planned engagement sessions with our community.

Therefore we’ve taken the decision to pause the engagement period until the letters can be sent (Alert Level 2). From then, Council will ensure there is at least four weeks for the community to give their views on the three latest topics of the Draft Whakamahere Whakatū Nelson – river flood hazards, the airport zone and airport noise, and Port Nelson noise options.
