Nelson Youth Council continues involvement with Nelson Arts Festival

Recently a group of Youth Councillors attended the launch of the Nelson Arts Festival 2018 Programme, which is running between 11-26 October.
This is a great few weeks for the youth in Nelson, as it introduces many to the wonderful, wacky and wicked world of art around them.
Throughout the Festival there will be many great performances, including fantastic local talent. On the last day of the Nelson Arts Festival to finish it off is one of the more popular youth events in Nelson: The Masked Parade & Carnivale.
Nelson Youth Council, for many years now, has proudly supported and aided in the organisation of this specific event. We believe that it’s important for young people to get involved with their community, so what better way than through an event that brings together all the local schools, parents and businesses.
We are also proud to support the Carnivale that occurs later on in the night, usually catering to the older youth. This is a great opportunity for the youth in our region to enjoy a night in a safe, alcohol and drug free environment.
