Nelson Tasman’s newest festival of community walks gives you the opportunity to connect with community and the environment.

Step Into Spring is a collection of safe, guided walks taking place in parks, reserves, and in your neighbourhood throughout the month of October.

After a Covid-affected winter and the extreme weather events of August, Step Into Spring encourages the community to reconnect, reminding everyone that walking is easy and fun.

Walks will be hosted and organised by community groups and other organisations, covering a range of themes and locations to cater to a variety of abilities. Most are free to attend.

Nelson Council’s Group Manager of Community Services Andrew White says, “promoting the use of our existing community infrastructure like parks, pathways, reserves, and walkways with fruit trees, is a simple way for communities to get together again that is free and accessible.

“We hope Step into Spring will offer an interesting walk for everyone and increase the confidence of the community to start exploring the Nelson Tasman region.”

The festival is supported by Health Action Trust, Top of the South Neighbourhood Support, Te Whatu Ora Nelson Marlborough, Tasman District Council and Nelson City Council.
