Nelson family, the Shingletons, will be happy no matter who wins the All Blacks versus Argentina rugby match in Nelson on 8 September.

Angie is from Argentina, while her husband John is a Kiwi, they live with their two children Enzo, 5, and Greta, 3, but they are most excited about the fact that the match will bring both cultures together as a celebration.

They are looking forward to the Game Day experience, which will include Kiwi and Argentinian culture, local artisan food, history, entertainment and a dedicated family area.

“That is really important to us, because of the kids, you want your kids to experience it because it is part of who they are as well,” John says.

“It’s great, because the first time when we first came here, Angie was the only Argentine we knew, now there are quite a few couples around Nelson and we are pretty sure there are going to be a lot of Latin people going to the game, because there are a lot of Argentinians working around here now.”

The couple has lived in Nelson for 11 years after meeting in Argentina 14 years ago, when fisherman John was on a work trip with Talley’s.

Having her home team coming to test themselves against the All Blacks in Nelson, is exciting for Angie.

“It is really good that Argentina have the opportunity to come and play here in Nelson,” Angie says.

While John supports the All Blacks, he doesn't mind if the underdogs Argentina grab an elusive upset win on Saturday.
