Work is underway to make some safety improvements for pedestrians and cyclists travelling from Boundary Road and over Waimea Road towards Bishopdale.

This work includes improving surfaces, kerb cut-downs for cyclists and mobility scooters, cutting vegetation for improved visibility and wayfinding signage improvements.

For safety reasons, a section of Waimea Road will be reduced to 30 km/hr in the work site area until 12 May, as the footpath will be closed and a temporary crossing point is being installed.

As there is work on both sides of Waimea Road, the speed reduction will be carried out in phases to enable safe travel through the work site.

Much of this work is funded through the Innovative Streets project budget with a 90% Waka Kotahi NZTA subsidy and is expected to take four weeks.
