This first stage of the Tahunanui Pathways project is now complete and ready for action.

It covers the section between Annesbrook Roundabout and Parkers Road. The work carried out included the installation of a Network Tasman power cable, a new water main, and a shared walking and cycling path created where the narrow footpath used to be.

Thanks to all the residents for their patience while work was underway and for allowing us to modify their fences to improve visibility.

It’s been a great outcome with improved utility services under the road and a wide, well-marked shared path on top for all to use.

This is the first stage of the Tahunanui Pathways project which aims to make it safer and easier for people to walk, cycle or scoot around Tahunanui. Detailed designs for the next stage of the project are currently being tweaked in response to feedback from residents. This will see the route progress along Parkers Road, Muritai Street and Waikare Street with a two-way separated cycle-way. The aim is to start construction in summer 2019.
