Update on Maitahi Bayview Private Plan Change 28

Nelson City Council received more than 650 submissions following the Maitahi Bayview private plan change public notification on 28 October 2021.

All submitters have now been advised that the hearing for Private Plan Change 28 will occur between 13-22 July 2022.

The application for a private plan change will be heard in front of a panel of independent, accredited commissioners: Greg Hill (Chair), Sheena Tepania, Gillian Wratt, and Nigel Mark-Brown.

A pre-hearing process for alternative dispute resolution is available to those submitters who wish to present at the hearing and/or engage experts on their behalf. This process allows for a less formal resolution to as many issues as possible, ahead of the hearing.

Help with RMA hearing submissions

An independent planning consultant is available to submitters who require help and advice understanding the Resource Management Act (RMA) hearing preparation and presentation process. 

The ‘friend of submitters’ consultant can give advice on: 

• Pre-hearing meetings (preliminary meeting and expert conferencing
• The hearing process
• The submitter’s role in the hearing
• How best to present an RMA submission at a hearing
• The role of experts in the hearing
• Discuss (where appropriate) joining other submitters to collectively present submissions.
