STV explained: how Nelson will vote in 2022

This year’s local elections will be decided using the single transferable vote system (STV).
Replacing first-past-the-post, STV allows people to rank the candidates they support. It provides voters with greater choice and increases the chances that you will be represented by an elected member that you voted for.
To make sure everyone understands the new system, we have created two animated videos. The first video explains how the results will be decided. The second video explains how to fill in your ballot paper.
